Maintenance
Living wall maintenance, season by season.
A living wall has to be looked after, not just installed. Visits cover the irrigation, feeding, pruning, seasonal replanting and a written note of how the wall is doing. We also care for walls we did not install.
Based in London. Working across the capital and the Home Counties.
01 — What a visit covers
The plants and the system, on the same visit.
A living wall is a planted system. Looking only at the foliage, or only at the irrigation, is how walls thin out.
01
Irrigation checked
Every visit includes the watering: drippers, zones and the controller, not just a glance at the leaves.
02
Feeding
The wall is fed on a schedule, so growth stays even rather than surging and then stalling.
03
Pruning
Growth is taken back so the scheme stays readable and neighbouring plants are not lost.
04
Replacing what fails
Plants that do not take are replanted, rather than left as gaps.
05
A written note
You get a short record of how the wall is doing, and what the next visit should watch.
06
Walls we did not install
We maintain existing walls as well as our own, once we have seen the system and the access.
02 — How it works
How a maintenance agreement works.
01
Review
We see the wall, the system and how it is reached, and say what a sensible visit pattern looks like.
02
A schedule
Outdoor walls are usually visited a few times a year. Indoor walls need more regular care.
03
The visit
Plants, water and the system are looked after together.
04
The season
What we do changes with the time of year, and you hear how the wall is getting on.

03 — Key facts
Maintenance facts.
Care is sized to the wall. These are the terms we start from.
- Outdoor walls
- A few visits a year, set to the season
- Indoor walls
- More regular care
- Each visit
- Pruning, feeding, irrigation, replanting
- Record
- A written note after the visit
- Existing walls
- We can take them on
- Area
- London and the Home Counties
04 — After the install
The first year is part of the wall.
A newly planted wall is still settling. Irrigation, a little replanting and a prune at the right moment decide whether it thickens or stalls.
Older walls need the same attention, just aimed at what is tiring: a zone that dries, a plant that has taken over, a controller nobody has looked at.
If the wall was installed by someone else, we start with a look at the system. We will say if it needs repair before a maintenance schedule makes sense.
05 — Chosen by the wall
Indoors and out.
The work is the same idea. The rhythm is not.
Outdoor walls
Weather, season and exposure. Visits are fewer, and timed to growth rather than to a weekly slot.
Indoor walls
Still air, lower light and a system that is easy to forget. These want a shorter gap between visits.
“The scheme was clear from the start, and the finished wall is exactly the one we talked through. It has changed the courtyard completely.”
